May Update

A lot has happened in the past 2 weeks:

Friends of Madison Park has been approved as a Non Profit. Next step is the IRS approval as a 501(c)(3) but we are moving along quickly and hoping to raise funds soon for the many events and programs being planned.

Your neighbors have been busy keeping Madison Park beautiful. On May 6, 19 volunteers worked planting and weeding at the Prospect Preserve Street End Park.

Want to help? Please let us know if you can:

  1. Join the next work party on July 8th OR

  2. You’d be willing to help water one day a week this summer OR

  3. You’d be willing to mulch with our big pile of wood chips in June.

The Lake House Condominium residents had a work party at the Madison Park Beach North to maintain that jewel of a garden along the lake.

Lake House residents spring work party - 2023.

Did you know that Madison Park has Community Service Officers from SPD who patrol our neighborhood daily and can come to your assistance if you need?

It’s true and they will be at our next Neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, May 30th at McGilvra’s Pub to answer your questions and explain their key role in our community.

We have a Speaker Series in the works and a survey is coming your way in our next News so think about what topics you would like to hear speakers address- health and wellness? adventure travel? creativity? relationships?…. the list goes on….. our small community TED talks.

Behind the scenes, businesses and neighbors are sponsoring and creating the following events and programs BUT, and a big BUT, we need volunteers/energy for all these to happen. So PLEASE and PLEASE sign up through the Volunteer page and some one will reach back to you quickly. These are just a few of your neighbors that are pitching in:

Thank you Elizabeth Talbot and Michelle Smith of Denali Gym for getting underway the Children’s Parade and Picnic in the Park on July 15. Others are stepping up to volunteer; please be added to the list.

Thank you Alaun MCray of Realogics Sotheby’s, Windermere Real Estate and Emily Morton for helping to bring back our Music in the Park Series in August, Thursday evenings from 6-8. Mark your calendars. And thank you to all the sponsors who are stepping up to help.

Thank you Ila Nazarco of Home Street Bank and Emily Van Dyke for working with the Madison Park businesses to bring back the Art Walk this September 8, opening night.

Others to thank- Libby Samuelson and Robin Kilwine for being our new Events Co-Directors, Brooke Fulton for being our City of Seattle Liaison, Jenny Martin for heading up our Neighborhood Soup Potluck for November 11; Barbara Ireland for creating a Speaker Series starting this Fall; Joshua Meisner, Elizabeth Diaz and Mary Gonzalez for working to bring a Farmer’s Market to Madison Park next year.

There are many more to thank and the Board and Committee Chair roster is being updated on our About page.

We have an Instagram page and postings will begin soon but you can sign up to follow now: friendsofmadisonpark.seattle
