Bamboo Thai Cuisine

Madison Park residents don’t need to leave the neighborhood to find a good Phad Thai. The most famous of all Thai dishes is on the menu – along with other favorites – at Bamboo Thai Cuisine.  Welcoming you to the friendly family-style restaurant: owner and manager Duangchai Stantus, known as Mind to her friends and family.

 Born in Thailand in a farming community, Mind’s first job was as a buffalo girl, herding the family’s water buffalos and keeping them out of the rice fields. As a young adult, she ventured further afield, working as the head of service for the Sultan of Brunei, a career that honed her hospitality skills. Mind moved to Seattle in 2017 and, two years later, bought the existing Thai Ginger restaurant from a friend.

 When the pandemic hit, Mind quickly pivoted to a brisk take-out business. She also sprung into action to help her new community – donating and personally delivering Thai dishes to the staff at Harborview as well as to the local police station and fire department. “I love the people of this community,” she says.

 Mind also loves sharing her enthusiasm for authentic Thai cuisine with home cooks. She plans to offer cooking classes – taught by a guest chef – at the restaurant beginning this March.
