MCGILVRA’S PUB
Welcome to McGilvra’s Irish Pub, where the doors open daily at 11, the neighborhood vibe is lively, the service quick, the pub food is famous for its Cubano sandwich and buffalo wings, and kids are truly welcome. The friendly face that greets you is often Courtney and a huge reason that McGilvra’s has become a regular stop for neighbors.
Courtney Kennett, McGilvra’s manager for the past 7 years, knows EVERYBODY! She serves you your favorite drink before you can even ask, crayons and kid games appear instantly on your table; she’s the eyes and ears of ALL goings-on in Madison Park and the Business Engagement Coordinator for Friends of Madison Park.
McGilvra’s, owned by Peter Johnson from Madrona, opened 15 years ago. Peter is from Ireland; moved here in his teens and one of his first jobs was as a dishwasher at the Attic, moved up to bartender and began opening Irish Pubs throughout Seattle (4 total). McGilvra’s was his second spot.
Courtney is from Seattle, started working at 16 with the restaurant Hit It Here in the Mariner’s stadium; and joined Peter’s pubs as a bartender and then manager. She chose McGilvra’s because she “loves the community, loves that we are across from the water, loves the summertimes, and loves that we have more choices in creating the bar and food menu. I eat it all!” Married last year, she spends her free time with her husband Mike and son Jackson.
Stop by McGilvra’s- they are a HUGE supporter of Friends of Madison Park, providing the venue for our first meetings, food, drinks, supplies and sponsorships for our upcoming events. Thank you McGilvra’s!
