A Quiet Fourth???

MADISON PARK BEACH CLOSURE

With our Madison Park Beach closed these last two weeks and soaring temps these last few days, it makes us all realize how important our beach, our park, our business district is to the vitality of our neighborhood. Fingers crossed that the next King County assessment will give us the all clear to swim again. You can always check here to see what area beaches are open.

SURVEY

WE NEED YOUR INPUT!!!! We had hoped to start a community SURVEY this weekend at the beach as we look toward possible improvements to the Beach, the Bathhouse, the Public Spaces that we all enjoy. Please take the 2 minutes to complete the survey. Simple asks- “What do you like about Madison Park park, beach, and bathhouse? If you could improve Madison Park park, beach, and, bathhouse what would you suggest?”…..

On the heels of a quiet, hot few last few days, Madison Park will be hopping next weekend- Saturday, July 13th! The Children’s Parade and Picnic is back- meet at Starbuck’s at 11:45 to decorate kid bikes, yourself, your kids. Led by the local Fire Engine, the parade starts at Noon, followed by hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, crafts and games- from sack races, to tug of war, to water balloon tosses, crafts and so much more!!! As part of Phase I of our Beautify Madison Park, our 10 new planters along the business area are filling in and hopefully everyone is enjoying this new additionS. We are shooting for Phase II this Fall, to add plantings under many of the trees and possibly more containers. Thank you to each and everyone who has helped sponsor these containers. If you would like to see more greenery in the Business are, please donate to HERE. Every bit helps toward making our neighborhood be lush and beautiful for all of us to enjoy.

We are also planning a Fall Clean Up Day- details TBD.

LET THE CITY KNOW

Friends of Madison Park continues to work on getting a crosswalk to the Beach and Bathouse from the playground and to slow down the traffic coming from those streets. We are now officially in the queue to have that happen- but no dates have been given.

We have also requested that the parking stalls be re-lined this year and that trash pick-up be increased. We have ongoing discussions with the Mayor’s office re graffiti as well.

If you see something that is of concern, start with the Find It, Fix It app.
