Earth Day and Celebrating our Neighborhood

Here is a tiny nudge to remind us all that Earth Day is on Monday April 22, 2024. This time of year, you cannot miss the joys that our Earth unfolds each spring- the fresh green of leaves, the cacophony of colors in bloom, the reassuring return of warm air and longer days. You may not be a gardener or an environmentalist, but it is impossible to ignore Madison Park’s beautiful streets, garden views and parks that we all get to share- for free.

Here are three upcoming opportunities to enjoy, enhance, and affect the continued beauty of our neighborhood.

Spring Clean Day

Part of the City’s Adopt-A-Street program, Spring Clean day takes place this coming Saturday, April 20th from 9-noon. Check in at our table at the corner across from Bert’s Red Apple. We will have brooms and rakes and yard waste and litter bags- hopefully enough gloves for all. But if you have a favorite tool, extra broom/rake or your own gloves, please bring them. Help for 1, 2 or 3 hours, sweeping, raking, weeding and cleaning in our business area and the parks and surrounding blocks. Additional details are HERE.

Beautify Madison Park

Our Beautify Madison Park project is also moving ahead with great progress. Our goal is to bring 10 flowering containers to the business district this Spring and 10 more in the Fall, along with more plantings for under the trees and surrounding areas. Our poster with all this information should be coming out in the next two weeks so please stay tuned and answer our call to help fund year-round beautiful containers and plantings for our community.

Madison Park Garden Tour

Topping off the gift of enjoying our local beauty is the Madison Park Garden Tour- Saturday, May 18th from 10 until 3:00. For only $20, you can tour 12 gardens in Madison Park- get ideas for your own garden and stroll through the hidden gems of gardens along the flats of our community. All sales go to support Friends of Madison Park events and projects. Tickets are on sale HERE.

Shop at the Pop-Up Artisan’s Market, taking place that day at the Bank of America parking lot.
