Late Summer in Full Swing

The July 29th Neighborhood Meeting had a full roster of events, news and projects for the community to consider. Below are a few of the topics covered; you can watch the full meeting HERE. A quick reminder that the next meeting will be September 30th- NO MEETING IN AUGUST, due to Labor Day weekend.

Farmers Market Coming to Madison Park in 2025

When Friends of Madison Park formed in May 2023, we had asked the community what would the neighborhood like to see happen- from events to projects to public safety and more. Always at the top was the possibility of a Farmer’s Market and our committee has been exploring that possibility this past year, surveying the community, talking to our local businesses and the different Farmer’s Market organizations.

Representatives from the Seattle Farmers Market Association spoke at our meeting that it has approved a plan to open a seasonal farmers market in Madison Park, beginning on Thursday afternoons in June 2025! This would bring farm-fresh goods within an easy walk or drive of Madison Park (over 50% of attendees at other local markets walk).

The nearby businesses surveyed are excited about the additional foot traffic from the market, and the plan has gotten great feedback overall. If you'd like to see the market come to fruition or have other feedback, please reply to their survey or scan the QR code below.

Say Hello to Dress Theory and City Sweats at Upcoming Open House

Two local Madison Park businesses, The Dress Theory, and City Sweats, are partnering to host an open house for the community and clients on August 23rd from 5 to 7 p.m.!

The Open House will give clients an opportunity to visit both businesses, receive tours and explore what they have to offer, and receive exclusive promotions for visiting.

Triangle Park and How to Cook a Wolf

The community also heard from the group Save Triangle Park (https://www.savetrianglepark.com/) regarding the park at 42nd and E Madison St. The small public plaza has been a community gathering center for decades and was originally gifted to the Madison Park Community by private donors. During and after COVID some dining shelters were built in the park by How To Cook a Wolf and the area is used for lunch and evening dining. The family that originally gifted the park spoke about the concern that the permanent structure unfairly inhibits the public use of the park. SDOT is accepting comments from the public through August 13, 2024. You can email the city at publicspace@seattle.gov and make sure to reference permit SUPSM0008488.
